To me, Lisa and DJ are the picture of longevity. On their one year wedding anniversary, they will simultaneously be celebrating an entire DECADE of being together! I love working with couples who have that kind of history because I sense very strongly that they have so much to teach me about marriage, commitment, and unconditional love. When I first met Lisa and DJ at their engagement session, I could feel almost immediately their comfort in being around each other. And, as I put it so aptly in their engagement blog post, this level of comfort bred radical authenticity between them. When you meet Lisa and DJ, you are meeting their true selves- because their love brings it out naturally. One other thing from their engagement session that I haven’t forgotten in almost a year since is that DJ was in charge of planning their honeymoon. And yes- he kept it a complete surprise until their wedding day when he told Lisa where they were going through a series of cryptic gifts! I was just as excited as Lisa to find out the morning of their wedding that they were honeymooning in NORWAY next summer!!

Lisa and DJ planned a beautiful adventure/outdoors-themed wedding. Schlitz Audubon Nature Center was the perfect venue for this theme to LITERALLY come to life; they had a meet and greet for their guests to mingle with various birds (like a bald eagle!) during cocktail hour! It was such a unique touch to the celebration! And despite a few hiccups like rain and our initial portrait location being overtaken by Brat Fest (lol- so Milwaukee!), Lisa and DJ remained entirely happy and relaxed the entire day. I guess this is because the actual importance of the day was not lost on them but rather the main focus- they are married and everything else is just the icing on the cake! I could ramble on and on about how wonderful these two are and how beautiful their day was, but I’m going to stop here and let the pictures tell the rest of the story. Congrats again, Lisa and DJ- I wish you a lifetime of happiness and adventure!
