Lisa and DJ have an old school sort of love (and I LOVE it!). They’ve been dating for 8 years. They don’t believe in first looks. DJ picked out the ring without any *hints* from Lisa. You don’t find couples like this very often these days, and I am SO excited to have been able to spend last Saturday with them shooting their engagement photos! From the very first email exchange, Lisa described them as a very outdoorsy couple, so I knew Retzer Nature Preserve would be the perfect backdrop for their engagement session. They have hiked Retzer before, so I deferred to them to show me some spots I hadn’t photographed in before, and they certainly didn’t disappoint!

Lisa and DJ met while in college at Ball State. Time passed (eight years, to be exact!) and DJ proposed to Lisa while camping at Point Beach State Forest in Two Rivers, WI with the lighthouse in the background, as Lisa loves lighthouses. Together as a couple, you can sense the eight years of togetherness they’ve experienced. They know so much about each other, like the stages of Lisa falling asleep while watching TV- and this comfort between them breeds this radical authenticity I don’t experience often between newly engaged couples. They are choosing to incorporate their love for nature and the outdoors with a reception at Schlitz Audubon, and I wait in anticipation for their wedding next fall, as I know this day will be one to remember!
