I think it’s safe to say that when you live in the Midwest and plan a September wedding, you have to be prepared for anything: rain, wind, highs over 80, lows under 50. You never quite know what you’re going to get! If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you might remember Emily and Dan’s winter engagement session where it was 8 degrees outside (!!!). Emily told me she didn’t even check the weather for her wedding 1) because it will be what it will be but 2) she knew no matter what, it would be better than the weather for our engagement session haha!! All this to say, Emily and Dan had literally perfect fall weather for their romantic Milwaukee Yacht Club wedding this weekend. I kept mentioning the gorgeous sunlight and temperatures the whole day because Saturday was the only non- rainy/overcast day the whole week! It felt like the heavens opened up for this beautiful wedding, and we were ALL enjoying it all day!
Emily and Dan’s ceremony was at St. Matthew’s Church in Wauwatosa, followed by a reception at the Milwaukee Yacht Club (and yes, we WERE able to take some stunning portraits amidst the docked boats there- keep scrolling!). I’ve mentioned this before, but one of my favorite parts of a wedding day is the speeches. They give me backstory for how these two people got to this day, to marrying each other, and I love hearing about new facets of my brides and grooms. All of the speeches at Emily and Dan’s reception touched on very similar topics- Dan’s ability to bring the fun to any situation (be it with his dance skills or friendly “antics” as his brother put it 😉 ) and steadfast commitment to Emily, and Emily’s sincere care and patience for Dan. To me, Dan and Emily are such great matches and equals for each other.
They ended the night with a pretty epic dance party with a packed dance floor. It seemed like every single person was there to show off their moves! Emily and Dan, I know you are destined for a life of fun and love (and killer dancing!). Thank you for letting me be a part of day 1 of this lifelong journey!
