I’ve mentioned this before and it’s never been more true than with Emily and Dan- my couples have GRIT! These two braved FRIGID temperatures for their engagement session, and you’d never know it was just 8 degrees out by looking at their photos! On the brighter side of the freezing cold, Mother Nature gave us a beautiful winter wonderland for our backdrop at Retzer! Everything about Emily and Dan’s session was the perfect kind of “winter coziness” that you anticipate excitedly at autumn’s end as the weather starts to turn. I love how comfortable Emily and Dan are with each other, and how even in less-than-ideal picture taking conditions, they were upbeat and smiling through it all!

Dan proposed to Emily this winter when they were in Chicago admiring the Christmas lights and exploring the Christkindl market. I loved that Dan knew exactly what kind of ring he wanted to get without any help from Emily! That’s pretty rare in the days of secret Pinterest boards full of potential future engagement rings 🙂 Emily says she really didn’t know the proposal was coming, despite deep down having a tiny wish that it might happen on their trip to Chicago, though she didn’t want to get her hopes up! I am so excited to photograph their wedding this September at the Milwaukee Yacht Club, especially since we will be slightly warmer then 😉
