Fall might be the most beautiful times of year- the air is crisp, the leaves are changing colors- which also happen to enhance an already stunningly curated wedding like Amy and Calvin’s. Amy and Calvin got married Saturday in the beautiful Elkhart Lake, WI on a perfect fall day. I had been checking the weather app incessantly (as I do), obsessing over the probable rain that had been forecasted earlier in the week, but all day long there wasn’t a single drop! Siebkens was the perfect backdrop for their wedding day- more on that later!

The day started at Siebkens Hotel, where both Amy and Calvin got ready (separately, of course). Then we headed over to All Saints Chapel, where Amy’s parents had gotten married 31 years earlier! I am a sucker for family history/traditions/heirlooms on wedding days, so I loved hearing this tidbit! Amy and Calvin opted for a private first look where they first exchanged letters they had written each other, which was such a special and personal spin on the tradition. The chapel only holds 48 seated guests (it was tiiiiny!) but made for an especially intimate ceremony. All throughout the day there were little details, be it signs, programs, seat markers, birdseed packets- EVERYTHING had Amy + Calvin’s own unique touch on it. But if you ask them, they will both tell you it was Amy’s mom, Gina, who was the true mastermind behind this- just look at the pictures and you will see what I mean- SUCH close attention to detail! Impressive!

We returned to Siebkens Tavern for cocktail hour and then Siebkens the resort hosted us for dinner. This was the same place that Amy’s parents hosted their own wedding reception years ago! What an amazing tradition. What I would give to see both of their wedding photos side by side!!! 🙂  The cake was incredible- unlike any I have ever seen- and the speeches were both funny and touching (with a few tears!). All of this goes to magnify the true reason everyone had put so much effort into this day, which was Amy and Calvin. Wedding days have a tendency to be hectic (that’s just the nature of trying to pull off a big party with all of your family and friends, and dealing with the emotions of marrying the love of your life, in my opinion!), but I am sure of this- Amy was never more calm, or herself, then when I saw her with Calvin. Their love has a certain peace about it. It was present during their first look when they were alone, during their ceremony when they were with their family, and when they were joined by 150 other family and friends for their dinner reception. It was so clear to me looking from the outside in, that they are each other’s perfect balance, and the love between them is the home that will provide them rest for many years to come.

Congrats to Amy and Cal, and to all who helped make this day one of the most beautiful I’ve witnessed! Cheers!

Calvin had his tie tied- a single Windsor knot- but then his brother & best man re-tied it in a double Windsor. In his words, “Nothing single about today!”

I LOVE Calvin’s look of “OMG I can’t believe this is my WIFE!”

Pro tip: if your dress is going to take a while to bustle, grab a glass of champagne

I wouldn’t be mad if every cake topper was this from now til forever…
