I feel that I’d be remiss if I started this blog post from any point other than the ceremony. It was a hot, slightly sticky, August day. The forecast had called for rain (70% chance at one point), but so far the sky weather had held out for us. There was the faintest mist throughout the ceremony- so faint that no one even needed an umbrella. Lauren and Peter said their vows outside at the beautiful Shully’s, and right as they finished the rain begun. Their officiant said, “I’m skipping a few parts, but you may kiss the bride!” Peter dipped Lauren as she held an umbrella for an epic rainy kiss. They held hands and raced down the aisle together, and the whole moment happened in my head in slow motion. To me, it was a scene out of a movie! The rain cleared up shortly thereafter and we had an incredible rest of the night, with a ceremony story to tell their kids about one day 🙂

Since starting this process with them almost 2 years ago, Lauren and Peter have grown to be beloved friends, and witnessing them start their marriage was nothing short of an incredible honor. We started the day at Lauren’s parents’ house, where her stepdad upkeeps the multiple acres of beautiful grounds. It felt like a photographer’s playground with the wildflowers, tall grass, lush green trees, and rolling lawn. I told them they could easily make their house into a coveted wedding venue if they ever wanted!

After photos there, we headed to Shully’s Watermark in downtown Thiensville for the ceremony and reception. The space dazzled in its rows of chandeliers, towers of white flowers, pops of navy blue, and a large dance floor (that was packed the whole night!). Lauren and Peter thought of so many special details that made their day unique and specially them. They had Kopp’s custard for dessert and honored their sweet dog Nellie by having a drawing of her on the bar signage. Everything was just picture perfect!

Lauren and Peter (& Nellie!), I am so grateful to have been the one to walk through this whole journey with you, from our very first call to your wedding day and beyond! I feel so lucky to be able to genuinely call you friends and I look forward to seeing the many wonderful places your marriage will take you!
