Amanda + Chris’s big day was surely one to remember! From our first meeting at a Wauwatosa Starbucks months earlier through their sunset portraits and reception, they were both so warm and laid back. You could tell that their main focus was on each other, their love, and celebrating with their family and close friends and not on those other pesky details (but the details were beautiful nonetheless!). Their spirit was contagious and made for photos that I feel are uniquely “them.”

We started their day with a few portraits in downtown Wauwatosa and the bridge by Cafe Hollander (and even ran into a few wedding guests out and about before the ceremony!). We traveled to Hoyt Park for more portraits where Amanda and Chris braved the hoards of mosquitos for some gorgeous shots!! Then we were back to Firefly for the ceremony, which was performed by Amanda’s aunt. As a regular patron of Firefly myself, it was so cool to see the restaurant transformed into a wedding venue. Firefly’s decor is so elegant that you really didn’t need extra decorations (a HUGE plus in my book!) and they had some of the most delicious wedding food I’ve had– hellooooo garlic fries!

One of my favorite parts of the night were the speeches. Both fathers as well as the best man and matron of honor gave speeches that made us all belly laugh AND shed a tear. It’s so amazing to be an “outsider” and yet gain access to such intimate moments shared between family and friends. It was so special to see Amanda and Chris through their loved one’s eyes, and know that above all else, their family and friends mean the world to them.  Amanda and Chris- I wish you a lifetime of happiness! Cheers to the start of your lives together!

I believe this is when Amanda’s dad threw in at the end of his toast that he’d like to be made a grandpa in the very near future!! 🙂
