The wind caressed the side of the stone buildings that were nestled into the rolling green hills of Whistling Straits. The sunlight peeked through the leaves of the four pines and danced on the grass below. Golfers roamed the greens in the distance, and the river cutting through the 5th hole’s fairway brought an audible sense of calm. This might sound like any other day golfing for Kortney and Matt. But today was different; surrounded by their closest family and friends and steps from a tee box, they held their wedding. And what a dream it was– a wedding at Whistling Straits!!

Full of Love

The love throughout Kortney and Matt’s wedding day was completely palpable. Multiple times throughout the getting ready process, Kortney looked at me and exclaimed, “I just want to see Matt already!” They both exchanged some of the most heartfelt words I’ve witnessed via pre-ceremony letters (which I hope they frame and hang in their new house– they were THAT good!) that had all of us tearing up. Matt’s dad proclaimed, “this is the best day of my life” during family photos with the most serious, genuine candor. And Kortney’s mom did not stop BEAMING all day long. I mentioned this to her and she replied, “I’m just so HAPPY! They are the perfect match.”

How They Met

I would be remiss to not mention exactly HOW Kortney and Matt met to all of you that don’t know the story. Matron of Honor Kassie told it in her speech and I’ll do my best to summarize it here: Kortney and Kassie grew up together and are best friends. Kassie married Keenan, who was good friends with Matt. Kortney and Matt met at the Friday cocktail hour before Kassie and Keenan’s wedding, were dancing together all night Saturday, and the rest is history! What an incredible way to start a love story, one that I’m sure has SO many more exciting events ahead.

Kortney and Matt- I would wish nothing less than a lifetime of love and happiness for you two. I feel lucky to have been able to be with you on your wedding day, and know my life is fuller because I have met you/ witnessed your love for each other. I normally get a bit sad at this moment because our time together is done; but that’s not true this time! I’m so excited I can shoot ANOTHER wedding at Whistling Straits next year! This day makes me THAT MUCH MORE excited to see you in a mere 13 months when you gather with ALL of your friends and family to celebrate your wedding. Until then, cheers to forever!
